I had a thought today (I do have other thoughts, but I think this one’s worth blogging about!). I introduced a friend in the office (I don’t like the word “colleague”. It just seems so impersonal… So if I referred to someone as a “colleague”, you’d know how I feel about that person! Haha…) to the beepmusic website today and told her to listen to the locally written and produced songs. Her reaction surprised me… She downloaded and listened to “Beautiful World”, liked it so much that she put it on repeat (for the whole morning maybe?) and is considering using the song for her wedding! She wants to blog about “Beautiful World” and let all her friends know about it! How cool is that? SOMEBODY likes the song! Woohoo! And because SOMEBODY will tell SOMEONE ELSE, OTHERS will know about it… And here’s my thought: For all the effort, time, blood, sweat and tears that went into producing “Beautiful World”, it is not the song that will make an impact. Songs don’t create the impact, people do! Songs don’t change the world (pardon the cliché), people do! People who contemplate on what was sung, or act on what they’ve heard, or propagate the values they’ve imbibed create that impact… They ignite the spark. That’s why James tells us to be ‘doers, not just hearers’ of the Word. It’s not enough just to understand what it means to be the ‘salt and light of the world’… We have to BE the salt and light of the world. And because SOMEBODY is the salt and light of the world, SOMEONE ELSE will be impacted, in turn OTHERS will be impacted too, resulting in MANY coming to know about the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Lastly, Fulham vs Man U (2-0), Spurs vs Chelsea (1-0), Liverpool vs Villa (5-0)… It’s a beautiful world. Gev
